In the 1960s, a new artistic discipline known as minimalism evolved in the USA. Its chief proponent was Donald Judd. In an attempt to express abstraction and three-dimensionality, Judd used industrial materials to create objects that were severely reduced in form - an interplay between open and closed volumes, interior and exterior forms, materiality, light and shadow. The result was a fascinating interaction between the object and the room. Inspired by this idea, new tall units were developed for bulthaup b3 that are seamlessly finished cubes which add a sculptural aspect to the wall. With their end-to-end doors, the bulthaup b3 tall units make a clear architectural statement with no compromises and no reductions in functionality. The precision mechanism specially developed for this new type of unit allows the door to glide sideways into the cabinet when opened, showing the entire interior of electrical devices, drawers and pull-outs.

The new bulthaup b3 drawers and pull-outs set innovative standards in terms of the combination possibilities, functionality and technology of their internal organization. The new interiors offer intelligent and variable solutions that can be combined and equipped according to individual needs, depending on preferences and use.

The appearance and feel of the new interiors impress with warm solid wood or practical aluminum. The drawers and pull-outs as well as the interior drawers and pull-outs in oak and walnut are assembled using finely crafted dovetail joints. The function-oriented compartments of the interiors are typical for bulthaup and are based on the building block principle to ensure order and clarity.

Ergonomically shaped trays providing space for cutlery are also available in either oak or walnut for optimum organization of the compartments. Liner mats and cutlery trays in linoleum also prevent cutlery and kitchen tools from sliding around.
